Acupuncture

acupuncture.gifAcupuncture by definition is the piercing of the skin with needles. However, there are many different ways of utilizing acupuncture, and different methods which do not pierce the skin can be used to stimulate the body’s acupuncture points. There are more than 2,000 acupuncture points on the human body, and these connect with 12 main and 8 secondary pathways commonly known as "meridians."

Acupuncture/meridian therapy originated in China between 2,000 and 4,000 years ago. It is one of the oldest, most commonly used medical procedures in the world. According to traditional Chinese medicine, these meridians -- or pathways -- conduct energy known as "qi" (chi) between the surface of the body and the internal organs. Numerous conditions are successfully treated with acupuncture.
